If you like cabbage this is an interesting way to make a great side dish. A quick and easy change to your typical vegetable dish.
Accessories: Ankarsrum Vegetable Slicer
Quantity: 8 servings
Prep Time: Approx. 20 minutes (if bacon already fried)
Ingredients:
- 1 Head cabbage
- 1/2 lb. Fried bacon
- 1 large onion
- 1 Envelope Ranch seasoning mix (or prepare your own – recipe below)
- 2 tbsp. Olive Oil
Chop bacon into small pieces (I like to do this before frying, much easier). Add Olive Oil and onions to hot pan and stir over heart till onions are caramelized. Add cabbage and cooked down a bit. Add the Ranch Dressing mix and bacon. Continue to cook down till desired doneness. If gets too dry add a touch of water and cook a bit more.
Ranch Dressing Mix
- 1/2 cup powdered buttermilk
- 1 tablespoon parsley flakes
- 1/2 teaspoon dried dill
- 2 teaspoons onion powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon ground pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
Blend together with small grinder or by hand for courser mix. Makes equivalent of 1 pouch of Ranch Dressing Mix.
