CINNAMON MAPLE TWIST

DELIGHT YOUR GUESTS WITH A LITTLE TWIST

A simple twist of the wrist turns this simple confection into a delightful addition to your breakfast table.

Use roller and scraper

  • ¾ cup milk
  • ½ cup water
  • ¼ cup margarine
  • 3 tbsp. sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp. maple flavoring
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • 3 1/3 cup flour
  • 1 ½ tsp instant yeast

Mix dry ingredients together in stainless bowl. Heat milk till warm add margarine. Stir in egg and maple flavoring.  Make a well in dry ingredients and add liquids. Mix well on a slow speed with roller about ¾ inch from wall. Increase speed to about 6 o’clock on dial and continue kneading dough till smooth and satiny.

Divide dough into 3 parts. Roll out one piece into a circle.  Place into a greased pizza pan.  Brush with melted margarine.  Sprinkle with 1/3 of the cinnamon/sugar mixture.  Roll out second and third in the same way.

Place small glass in the center of circle and press down just slightly to make a small dent.  Remove glass and starting by mark left from glass with a pizza cutter or sharp knife cut dough into quarters and each quarter into quarters again. This should give you 16 pieces all joined yet at the hub (see picture below). Twist each piece one complete turn.  Allow dough to rise for 20 minutes and then bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or till golden brown.  Glaze the twist while still warm.
